The Drywall Podcast

The Drywall Podcast was created by entrepreneur Nick Harmony Long time Journeyman Finisher, Owner and developer of Fresco Harmony because there wasn’t a podcast dedicated to the men and women who make the Drywall Industry what it is. From this podcast we’ve enriched relationships, fostered community and documented the history of drywall and beyond.

Man I really enjoyed talking with Dan.  You can tell right away that he's an amazing finisher.  We dive into talking about blue steel knives and why that became the name of his business but we also get into the weeds about tools and the bazooka vs the super taper.  He comes from good stock as you'll learn early on in the episode and you won't be able to turn off this one, the 84th episode of The Drywall Podcast.

We have Lee Goldman back once again to finish what he started on episode one.  Now that we've established him as a major product player in part one we can take a deep dive into the world of the Wet & Stick and find out for once and for all why this innovative idea, that had ample support, and backing, didn't have the good fortune to turn the Drywall Industry on it's head.  We discuss his marketing and unique strategy for pioneering the product while searching for a better understanding on Lee's strategic relationships may have suffered as a result of a manufacturing defect.  Lee is as honest as they come and has no problems telling all on this, the 83rd episode of The Drywall Podcast.

Lee Goldman is one of those interviewees who comes along once in a blue moon.  He's unique, smart, and knows how to tell a good story.  I was interested in Lee for quite awhile because his product called the Wet and Stick kept coming up on other podcasts and I found it to be an intriguing idea.  I didn't know how far down the rabbit hole went.  The more we talk the more I realize there's more to this story than meets the eye.  We dive head first into Lees extensive background in the fashion industry working underneath giants like Ralph Lauren.  Lees path lead him to the drywall industry and finally to The Drywall Podcast where we have one of the best talks two entrepreneurs could have on this, the 82nd episode of The Drywall Podcast.

Sasha is an ambitious union apprentice who has her sights set on becoming a journeyperson soon. We talk about sports and how her athleticism plays into her hard work ethic.  We discuss the importance of wearing whites (or lack there of) and some of the dynamics of being a union apprentice.  Sasha is wonderful to talk to and we have a great conversation on this, the 81st episode of The Drywall Podcast.

We once again catch up with Kevin Bush to find out more about these adventures in Drywall but are quickly distracted into talking about The Great Rocky Mountain Adventure.  We're then quickly sidetracked by The Wet and Stick tape system.  It's a curious conversation where we explore the trials and tribulations of bringing a new concept to market in the drywall space and the inherent challenges of teaching old drywall dogs new tricks.  Kevins knowledge once again shines through as we go deep into the world of grabber and political correctness.  We get a surprise pop in from builder and long time Drywaller Heath Jimmerson and have an all around good time on this, the 79th episode of The Drywall Podcast.

John Hein - The Bear

Friday Jan 05, 2024

Friday Jan 05, 2024

John is the Drywallers Drywaller.  He's been in the trenches learning the trade for the last 10 years and isn't afraid to speak his mind.  John hails from Salem Oregon where he's worked for 5* Drywall for the past 10 years. or until his most recent layoff where he decided to venture out on his own to seek his fortune.  He's working on getting his aviation license so he can fly all over the country doing drywall for cheap.  John is a great guy and I'm grateful he won the CanAm tool competition and came on the radar of The Drywall Podcast.

Shawn and I dig right in talking about a backsplash he and Shawn Ramsden finished in Fresco Harmony.  We talk about meeting at the CSR training in Toronto and how he got into the trade.  Not your normal route but after doing carpentry for a bit he found he had a knack for drywall and it wasn't long before he was in charge of all the patches.  Shawn is extremely humble and a great guy.  We talk a lot about technique and how he's slow to adopt the tools.  It's a great show and I know you'll come to love Shawn Fawcett on this, the 77th episode of The Drywall Podcast.

If you pay attention to your followers it's likely that you'll see likes from Cullen Selinger and Elite Drywall.  He's that kind of guy.  He didn't hesitate to jump on board when I asked him if he'd like to be on The Drywall Podcast.  We dive into the interview like we'd known each other for years.  He's a great guy, a family man and a first generation Drywaller but he wasn't always drawn to drywall.  He original passion was with Coal mining.  He did that for years but when his new home flooded he wanted to tackle the drywall himself.  After some cuss words and some struggle he found an affinity for the medium and found himself doing odd jobs and helping friends out.  Finally he made the switch to owning his own drywall business and he's never looked back.  I know you're going to enjoy this, the 76th episode of The The Drywall Podcast.

Gloria Fuentes - Part 2

Friday Dec 08, 2023

Friday Dec 08, 2023

Round two with one of the most fearless women I've ever met.  Gloria and I take off where we left off with Episode 73 part one of this two part episode.  She's in NYC and poised to take on the biggest project she's ever encountered.  We talk about that and how she won over the crews when she was safety inspector girl by bringing coffee and donuts to the job on safety inspection day.  She's smart like that but business savvy in so many other wonderful ways.
We discuss her life coach that keeps her on track and a big shout out to Corralee Beatty.  If you're a woman in construction you can find out more about Coralee on her instagram page @thrivehq and be sure to follow Gloria @glojoy.co

I immediately liked talking with Gloria of GloJoy Companies and I quickly realized we were going to have to rewind quite a bit to get the full story.  So much so that an hour passed and we still hadn't gotten to the drywall parts.  I decided to make this interview into a two part episode because I felt that was the only way to properly do justice to this awesome person.  Gloria is an ambitious creative who has a knack for learning new things.  We have to touch all these based to get to the bottom of who she is.  We do that and much much more on this, Part 1 of this two part series and the 73rd episode of The Drywall Podcast.  Be sure to follow Gloria on all the platforms and get to know this construction mogul.
