The Drywall Podcast

The Drywall Podcast was created by entrepreneur Nick Harmony Long time Journeyman Finisher, Owner and developer of Fresco Harmony because there wasn’t a podcast dedicated to the men and women who make the Drywall Industry what it is. From this podcast we’ve enriched relationships, fostered community and documented the history of drywall and beyond.

Scott and I have been admiring each others social media pages for quite some time.  We almost had a podcast about a year ago and it fell through but I was able to wrangle him this time.  We talk about his experience being a Jehovah's Witness and how doing donation work for his religion brings him peace.  We also talk a lot about the automatic finishing tools and the difference between the banjo and the bazooka but the conversation takes a turn when Scott admits that he's struggling with Parkinson's Disease.  We discuss what the future holds for Russell's Drywall and a whole lot more on this, the 133rd, episode of The Drywall Podcast.
This episode of TDP was brought to you by Tape-Tech Tools This month we're highlighting the T-RAXX system exclusively by Tape-Tech.  Find out more about this amazing too by visiting their social media pages or checking out the T-RAXX first hand at AMES, All-Wall, and West-Tech.

Most of the time I'm having conversations with drywall professionals, but sometimes a plaster person wanders into the mix.  I was unsure when Jeremy's creative director reached out,  but I was also curious.  I'm glad we hooked up.  Jeremy is a guy I could be good friends with and I hope we stay in contact after this experience.  We have several parallels within our lives and we happen to be around the same age too.  Jeremy owns and developed a company called New Age Artisans out of Bozeman Montana.  He's been working in the plaster space for over two decades and has launched his own flavor of plaster.  Not only that, he hosts a podcast called The Aggregate where he interviews professional plasterers from around the globe.  He's the quintessential expert in Tadelakt and we talk a lot about that.  We skim all over the airwaves waxing poetic about the nature of walls and why he's made beautiful walls his passion on this, the 132nd, epiosode of TDP.

Recently we had an unusually large order come through the Fresco Harmony and it was a familiar name.  Logan Davis.  I'd never talked to him on the phone and he'd never called to inquire about the product.  He just picked it up and has been crushing it with Fresco Harmony for many years now.  I decided to give him a call to see what in the hell he was doing to sell Fresco Harmony and maybe pass some of that knowledge onto some other finishers in the drywall community.  He agreed and the rest is history.  Logan is a great guy and is extremely well rounded in the construction industry.  This conversation moves through the fabric of the home building process and in the end we spin a tale that's sure to be pleasing to the regular listener of The Drywall Podcast.  This is episode 131...

Once again Drywall Shorty graces TDP with her presence.  It's been over two years since I interviewed Drywall Shorty and we were way over due for another conversation.  We get into the technical aspect of what she does and dig into how she makes money and it may not be what you think.  Lydia is a hard working drywall professional who isn't afraid to get dirty but still loves looking good when she's on the job site.  She's one of my absolute favorite people to interview and I'm so glad she agreed to come onto this, the 130th, episode of The Drywall Podcast.
This episode of The Drywall Podcast was brought to you by Tape Tech.  Introducing the T-RAXX system.  This system transforms how finishers transport and use their tools and is available through AMES, All-Wall, and West-Tech. The rack system is just $149.99

I must be the luckiest Drywaller in the land to get to interview Aaron and Elliot of Columbia Tools not once but twice! If you missed our first episode you may want to dig into the archives and check out episodes 23 and 26 way back in November of 2023.  We talk a lot about the history of the company but this episode is based more on current events.  We talk a lot about marketing and sales, the Surrey project we took part in, Our good friend Kam, and much much more.  Columbia Tools has supported The Drywall Podcast and I appreciate them for that. We have a lot of fun and a lot of laughs on this episode, the 129th episode, of The Drywall Podcast.

We catch up with Steve Wessel of Whitby Drywall on episode 128.  I met Steve at a Fresco Harmony training at CSR in Toronto but that's not the only thing that makes this podcast special.  Steve is the third of his family to come on the podcast.  We've also interviewed Royce with the 3Way and his brother Dan both amazing and it was nice to catch up with a third member of this family.  We discuss challenges of being a struggling musician and navigating drugs and alcohol in his youth and how maybe drywall was a way for him to clean up his act.  Steve is an amazing finisher and so we talk a lot about technique and why he chooses Columbia Tools as his go-to tools for finishing.  Steve is a fantastic interviewee and I know you'll love him after listening to this, the 128th episode of The Drywall Podcast.

Mike Drees and Drywall Jesse

Friday Apr 04, 2025

Friday Apr 04, 2025

Mike and Jesse came down to Albuquerque recently to work with me on a Fresco Harmony project and we got to know each other.  These two are some of the best finishers I've had the pleasure to work with.  We all had a fantastic time and created some new stories along the way.  Some of which you'll get to hear on this podcast.  We also talk a bit about our friend Kam's last day on the job and how that experience shaped us.  It's another gem of an episode, episode 127, on The Drywall Podcast.

Friday Mar 21, 2025

I finally got a chance to catch up with Mark Wilson of AMES Taping Tools.  Mark is an extremely accomplished finisher who's rose the ranks in the drywall industry to become Director of Technical Education with one of the largest tool manufacturers in the world. We talk about Marks beginnings in the trade up in Michigan and how being knowledgeable lead him to an amazing career.  Mark has traveled all over the world meeting people and spreading knowledge of the trade and now for the first time we managed to get an interview with him on The Drywall Podcast.  I sincerely hope you enjoy this podcast, the 125th episode, as much as I did.

Rarely do I have people reach out to be on The Drywall Podcast.  Tyler is one of those people and I'm glad he did.  He's a very well spoken, respectable, member of his community but he may have ran into some bumps in the road that cost him a pastoral opportunity.  Tyler didn't let that get him down though.  He always found refuge in drywall.  At 29 Tyler is a younger person in the trade but don't let that fact fool you.  Tyler is a true hustler and I'm glad he reached out to me for this, the 124th, episode of The Drywall Podcast.
